Cretaceous Crossroads
Immersive graphics bring Montana’s ancient ecosystems to life at the Museum of the Rockies.
Bozeman, Montana
Crux Creative partnered with Bluewater Studio and the exhibit team to develop the experiential graphics for Cretaceous Crossroads, a new permanent exhibition at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana. The 2,300-square-foot gallery showcases remarkable fossils from Montana’s Upper Cretaceous period, including towering dinosaur skeletons, marine reptiles, micro-vertebrates, and ancient plant life.
Crux led the graphic design process from concept development through final production artwork, creating a cohesive visual language that supports storytelling throughout the exhibit. Interpretive panels, specimen graphics, and environmental elements were designed to complement the dramatic fossil displays while making complex scientific content accessible and engaging for visitors of all ages.
The exhibition integrates immersive and hands-on experiences—including audiovisual interactives, discovery drawers, and microscope stations—that invite visitors to explore the evolutionary and environmental changes of the late Cretaceous. Through layered graphics and thoughtful information design, the exhibit helps reveal the rich paleontological history of Montana and the scientific discoveries that continue to emerge from the region.
