Milwaukee County Historical Society
Backyards to Big Leagues: Milwaukee Sports and Recreation History
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
This is the second exhibit we have done for Milwaukee County Historical Society and we could not be more thrilled. The exhibit covers the history of sports in Milwaukee from the late 1800’s to today. It includes ball games of every type, boating, bicycling, boxing, bowling, and more. Crux Creative helped create a two-story exhibit that included photographs, illustrations, sports equipment, team uniforms and artifacts video displays, interactive games. Crux Creative was responsible for developing and producing all of the branding, graphic design, and printing in the exhibit. It also has strength and energy in keeping with the presentation of sports history. The palette choice was driven first by the team colors of various sports associations represented in the exhibit and to create a strong relationship between all the signage and copy. The visual elements were placed not only to tell a cohesive story from panel to panel but also to build a sense of dynamic energy in an otherwise almost totally static exhibit. The result is an exciting, engaging exhibit – pleasing to the eye, highly readable, and full of memorable highlights. The exhibit was made possible through the support of sponsors including Aurora Health Sports, Milwaukee Admirals, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers Baseball, BMO Harris Bradley Center, and Crux Creative.
