THE IMPORTANCE OF BACKING UP FILES

Here’s some advice that we all need to follow. This sort of thing happens all the time to unsuspecting people.

Here is the advice: YOU NEED TO BACK UP YOUR FILES PROPERLY!

There. We’ve all heard it. Here’s a good example with a sad outcome.

My client contacted me with a request. She wanted to know if we had access to images of a particular style of entertainment that was at their hotel. The old act left and was requesting that their photos not be used for marketing material.

The new act had A disk… one disk… of photos that they kindly gave to a hotel employee to download for marketing use.

You can guess what happened. That employee decided to leave the company and can no longer locate the disk.

In a blink of an eye, the photos were gone.

I’m sure you have heard your own version. Create a reminder to back up all files on a regular basis.

Utilize Disks or External Hard Drives. There are even companies that specialize in this. It could be as simple as subscribing to DropBox or any one of the many Cloud-based storage services.
